I am a former professional athlete, certified personal trainer, health coach, group fitness instructor and the proud creator of Coaching with Casey.
Growing up, I was bullied for being too muscular and masculine. I would often get asked if I was using steroids or teased for my "thunder thighs". While playing collegiate and professional field hockey, I struggled to accept and love my body even more. I found myself constantly comparing my body to my teammates. Being in this intense environment made me believe that I needed to be killing myself in the gym and restricting myself in the kitchen.
I put so much pressure on myself to appear perfect to my coaches and teammates even though I was sneaking McFlurries behind the scenes. During my last year on the team, I was also suffering from insomnia, migraines, bloating and constant fatigue. I would wake up every morning feeling dizzy and nauseous and would go multiple nights without getting any sleep. From the outside looking in, it seemed like I had it all but, on the inside, I was silently struggling. I was eating extremely healthy and pushing myself in the gym but overall, I felt terrible. I discovered that looking your best doesn’t always equal feeling your best.
As my professional field hockey career was coming to an end, I knew I wanted to stay in the health and fitness world, but I wasn't sure what path I wanted to take. As I thought about my future, I reflected on my past. I tapped into all of the things that truly made me feel good.
I realized that there is nothing like a good sweat, a good meal and a good coach.
I decided to enroll in NASM, the National Academy of Sports Science to become a certified personal trainer. From my past experiences, I knew I wanted to create workouts that were easy to follow and simple but also challenging and effective. I understand that majority of people can’t spend hours in the gym and train like a professional athlete. That’s why it was extremely important to me to create workouts that were time efficient, used minimal equipment and easy to access on the go.
Shortly after enrolling at NASM, I was inspired to become a health coach as well. I knew fitness and nutrition went hand in hand and you can't have one without the other. I decided to enroll in IIN, the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to become a certified health coach. I wanted to learn how to make wholesome balanced meals that were healthy but satisfying at the same time. Again, from my past experiences, I knew that being extremely restrictive made my body look good but not necessarily feel good. My goal as a health coach is to help people focus on feeling food first and looking good second.

I believe that you can eat healthy and still have your cake too. Finding balance in the kitchen is the key to a sustainable diet.
Over the years I have experienced both good and bad coaching. One specific experience left me feeling terrible about myself. In this moment, I realized I wanted to become a coach. I never wanted anyone to feel the way I felt during that moment. I knew I wanted to help people feel good about themselves. Health and fitness should always be a safe place. That’s why my coaching philosophy is consistency over perfection. I will never judge someone or make it personal. I believe fitness is a unique and intimate experience where everyone should feel welcomed and supported regardless of where they are on their journey.
When you have a good coach that you connect with it's easier to show up, stay consistent and feel motivated. Having someone in your corner who truly believes in you and inspires you will help you reach your goals. I created Coaching with Casey because I wanted to build connections that went beyond coach and client. I wanted to create a fitness family where people feel seen and valued. A community where people can give and receive without judgement. A home where people can gain strength not only from workouts but from relationships.
